General Automotive Technician
Job description
1. Diagnosing Issues: Utilize diagnostic tools, equipment, and manual inspections
to identify engine and transmission problems accurately.
2. Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on engines
and transmissions, including component replacement, rebuilding, and
adjustments, to restore proper functionality.
3. Brake Repair and Maintenance: Inspect, diagnose, and repair braking systems,
including brake pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, and hydraulic components.
Perform adjustments, replacements, and repairs to ensure proper functioning
and safety.
4. Air Conditioning System Repair: Diagnose and repair issues with vehicle air
conditioning systems, including compressor, condenser, evaporator, refrigerant
lines, and electrical components. Conduct leak detection, recharge refrigerant,
and perform necessary repairs to restore proper cooling functionality.
5. Troubleshooting: Analyze and troubleshoot engine and transmission
performance issues, identify the root cause of malfunctions, and propose
appropriate repair solutions.
6. System Testing: Conduct tests, both manual and computerized, to evaluate the
performance and functionality of engines and transmissions, ensuring they meet
the required specifications.
7. Parts and Component Replacement: Remove and replace faulty engine and
transmission components such as pistons, valves, gaskets, seals, bearings,
clutches, gears, and electronic control modules.
8. Fluids and Lubricants: Inspect, drain, and refill engine oil, transmission fluid, and
other lubricants, ensuring proper levels and quality.
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of performed repairs, replaced parts,
and diagnostic findings to track maintenance history and facilitate future
reference.
10. Adherence to Safety Standards: Comply with safety protocols and procedures
when working with engines, transmissions, and related equipment, ensuring a
safe working environment for yourself and others.
11. Customer Service: Interact with customers, provide explanations about repairs
needed, offer cost estimates, and answer any questions or concerns they may
have.
12. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements in engine and
transmission technologies, attending training sessions or workshops to enhance
knowledge and skills.
